Why Parent Involvement Matters

“Regardless of family income or background, students whose parents are involved in their schooling are more likely to have higher grades and test scores, attend school regularly, have better social skills, show improved behavior, and adapt well to school.”

Henderson, A.T. & Mapp, K.L. (2002). A new wave of evidence: The impact of school, family, and community connections on student achievement.

Martin County's Title I / Migrant / ELL Programs believe that parental involvement is extremely important to children's success.  In an effort to increase parental involvement and to help parents, and schools improve the educational opportunity for children, these Programs offers numerous parent engagement activities.  These activities range from use of our local Parent Resource Centers to joining in a mini-workshop to learn how to teach your child math or simply helping your child with homework.
